ARTIST STATEMENT

I want to give freedom back to art making. I want to give the viewer of these works a sense of liberation.

In art, especially painting, I am open to a certain type of freedom. A place of connection, where the process rebels against the linear. I use whatever I have, acrylic paints, charcoal, spray paint, various bottles, papers, dried flowers, dirt. Painting on canvases, doors, boards, using brooms, window cleaners, palette knives. Materials come together, layers, textures, magical moments, insecure moments, it's all part of the process.

When I paint I am open to creative magic, it’s not intellectual or rational but rather organic and trusting, that if I open to it, the painting will paint itself. And if I keep going it will arrive at a place of satisfaction.

My intention is to allow, to make a painting that is a culmination of moments. Moments that have come together to create something moving to the viewer.
